Seven arrests and more than 100 servers seized
Authorities arrested seven suspects and seized more than 100 servers on 3 November 2026 in an international investigation into alleged investment fraud. Eurojust reported searches at 17 locations and estimated losses exceeding €4 million. The suspects were arrested for surrender or extradition to Germany; the announcement does not mean those transfers have already happened.
The case concerns platforms offering supposed trading in cryptocurrencies, foreign currencies and stocks. The loss estimate covers the scheme described by authorities: it is not a separately measured total of stolen cryptocurrency. Eurojust and Europol supported the coordinated action. [1]
The suspected supplier behind the trading screens
Europol describes a suspected supplier of fraudulent trading websites, connected to call-centre operators. Investigators traced the alleged service business to Cyprus and Israel, with suspected clients running call centres in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia. The target was therefore infrastructure used by other groups, rather than only a single investment brand.
According to Europol, deceptive advertisements attracted potential customers and their personal data was sold to criminal call centres. Supposed brokers encouraged small initial transfers, showed fictitious profits and pressed people to send larger sums. Withdrawal requests met delays. A balance displayed on such a platform was part of the alleged persuasion mechanism, not proof of successful trading. [2]
Earlier convictions concern a different stage
The joint release from the Itzehoe prosecutor's office and Schleswig-Holstein criminal police describes earlier searches in September 2022 and May 2025. Authorities say three suspects from the earlier investigation have since been extradited to Germany and sentenced to prison terms of three to five years. Those convictions must not be attributed to the seven people arrested in the latest operation.
German investigators say analysis of evidence seized in 2025 led them to the suspected service provider. The investigation continues, with examination of the newly collected electronic evidence now a priority. [3]
What the operation does not establish
The releases describe arrests, searches and seizures, but do not give a confirmed total repaid to victims. Seizing servers is not the same as recovering customer funds, and the €4 million loss estimate is not a compensation announcement.
The newly arrested suspects remain suspects. The reports do not establish that every customer of every connected website has been identified or will receive a refund. Further evidence analysis, court decisions and any documented restitution process are separate developments to watch. [1][3]
